PMF at the Madstone Theatre, 2003
PMF created frames for filmmakers to display their posters.

PMF Film Festival
The idea was simple...get aspiring filmmakers to make movies more often, and show those movies on the big screen.
What Kinds of Movies?
With different themes each month ranging from Western and Sci-Fi to the more obscure 'Connect-the Dots' or 'Cliffhanger' and 'Conclusion'...the movies had to be originally created for PMF
Which movies were shown?
A panel of judges picked which films were shown each month out of many different entries. After acceptance into the festival, the audience voted on which movie they liked the best, and the filmmakers were rewarded with trophies, fabulous prizes, and of course, a hefty helping of applause and admiration.
What were the screenings like?
PMF was produced monthly by volunteers in Albuquerque, NM in 2003 and 2004. The screenings were held for paying audiences at the awesome Madstone Theatre as well as the art house theatre of Albuquerque, the Guild. Festival Staff created DVDs which were available at local retailers, programs, voting ballots, posters, prize packages, and usually, a fully-produced 5-minute Intro Film to let audiences know what the festival was about.

Progresison Through Digression - February, 2004
Dearest Nora - February, 20004
In March, 2004 PMF gave Filmmakers a chance to shoot at a real, working movie ranch near Santa Fe, the Bonanza Creek Ranch.
The Filmmakers
The challenge of making a 5-minute movie every month pushed filmmakers to write, shoot, and edit an original film in a condensed period of time for a monthly competition which brought together a vast audience to watch their ingenious creations. At first, some some said it was impossible, but as filmmakers created films each month, their skills improved, and they rose to the challenge. PMF pushed their skills, their endurance, and their creativity.
PMF DigiCafe
PMF also hosted the PMF DigiCafe during the summer which challenged filmmakers to create a brand new movie in just 24 hours. Each day of the PMF Digicafe had a different theme.
PMF Free-For-All Films
Additional films were screened after competition films in the free-for-all category which was not themed or for competition, but these films still had to meet eligability requirements for a chance to be selected for the screenings.

When is the next screening?
Unless you have a time machine, you probably won't be able to see a PMF screening on the big screen, but there will be videos online.
Where do I submit my film?
We're excited you've made a film, but as we are no longer doing screenings, there call for entries is also closed.
Where is PMF now?
PMF had 19 spectacular and ambitious screenings in the biggest theatres at two of the most premium venues. We put together this whole film festival before you could shoot a movie on your iphone, before you could upload it to youtube, before many were shooting HD video...back when it took NASA level technology to even correctly burn a DVD.
PMF brought together the New Mexico film community to support it's aspiring filmmakers. Many of the filmmakers who created movies for PMF have gone on to successful careers in the entertainment industry, and many of the founders and event staff for PMF remain in contact many years later. The fantastic Madstone Theatre, which was the home for PMF, closed its doors in June of 2004, and the Guild Cinema which picked up PMF for July and August of 2004 is still providing Albuquerque with fine independent films in Nob Hill.
PMF would not have been possible without the hard work of many volunteers, the donations of many sponsors, and the sacrifice of many, many, many hours of sleep. Thank you to everyone who contributed so much to make PMF possible month after month after month.
The founders of Shiny Object Films, Tom Szymanski and Stuart Tefft, both former PMF Staff Members, created this website for PMF.
